The exact cause of his death wasn't mentioned, but he had been in the hospital recently. Jimmy was born in Mississippi and grew up in Alabama before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. He dreamed of becoming a country singer while working at a music magazine called Billboard.

Later, he moved to Florida and helped create a music style called tropical rock, which became popular thanks to artists like Jack Johnson. His big break came with his 1977 album "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes," which included the famous song "Margaritaville." He had other hit songs like "Fins," "Come Monday," and "Son of a Son of a Sailor."

Jimmy Buffett was nominated for two Grammy awards and released more than 20 albums. He also turned his songs into a musical called "Escape to Margaritaville," which debuted on Broadway in 2018.

Many people loved his music and his relaxed beach lifestyle, and they called themselves "Parrotheads." Fans, as well as fellow musicians like Elton John and the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, paid tribute to him on social media.

Jimmy Buffett had to cancel some of his shows earlier this year due to health issues but promised to make it up to his fans when he felt better. He said that playing music was therapeutic for him and his fans.

Besides being a musician, Jimmy Buffett was a successful author and entrepreneur. He created popular resorts, clubs, restaurants, and retirement communities based on the Margaritaville brand. Forbes estimated his net worth at $1 billion recently. He is survived by his wife Jane and their three children.
