In a picturesque seaside ceremony, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman exchanged vows with his longtime boyfriend, Oliver Mulherin, surrounded by a select group of close friends and family. Ironically, some netizens speculated whether the pictures were AI-generated, but Altman has confirmed the authenticity of his marriage to NBC News.

Oliver Mulherin shared the joyous news on Instagram with a caption that read, "married my best friend and love of my life," and the post's screenshot was widely circulated by the Free Press Journal. Social media was further flooded with images of the ceremony, shared by @heyBarsee, formerly known as Twitter.

The revelation of Altman's marriage has sparked curiosity about Mulherin, as the couple has kept their relationship largely private. Altman hinted at their future plans in an interview with New York Magazine in September 2023, expressing a desire to start a family soon.

Oliver Mulherin, according to his LinkedIn profile, is an Australian software engineer who previously worked with Meta from August 2020 to November 2022.

Despite maintaining a low profile regarding their personal lives, Altman and Mulherin made a public appearance at the White House state dinner hosted by President Joe Biden during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States.

The couple's love story unfolds against the backdrop of Altman's tumultuous journey with OpenAI. In November of the previous year, Altman faced a sudden firing from his position as CEO, leading to widespread employee discontent. In a dramatic turn of events, employees threatened to resign and switch to Microsoft unless Altman was reinstated. Eventually, Altman reclaimed his role as CEO, instigating a significant restructuring that involved the dismissal of former board members to establish a new board.

Sam Altman, a key figure in the field of artificial intelligence, gained prominence with the introduction of ChatGPT, setting the stage for heightened competition and substantial investments in AI research and development. In 2015, Altman, alongside tech giants like Elon Musk, co-founded OpenAI as a nonprofit organization, guiding it to become one of the most prominent startups globally.
