A Quick Guide on How to Take Screenshot in Laptop?

Taking a screenshot on a laptop is a handy way to capture and save what's currently displayed on your screen. The method might slightly vary depending on the operating system your laptop is running (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Here's how to do it on each of these systems:

Windows:

  1. Entire Screen:

    • Press the "PrtScn" (Print Screen) key on your keyboard. This captures the entire screen.

    • The screenshot is copied to your clipboard. Open an image editing program (like Paint), press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot, then save the image.

  1. Active Window:

    • Press "Alt + PrtScn" or "Alt + Fn + PrtScn" if you're using a laptop.

    • The screenshot of the active window is copied to your clipboard. Paste and save it as explained above.

  1. Snipping Tool (Windows 7) or Snip & Sketch (Windows 10):

    • Search for "Snipping Tool" or "Snip & Sketch" in the Start menu.

    • Open the tool, select "New," then select the area you want to capture.

    • Save the captured snippet using the tool's options.

  1. Windows + Shift + S (Windows 10):

    • Press "Windows + Shift + S" to open the Snip & Sketch tool directly.

    • Choose the area you want to capture, and the screenshot is copied to your clipboard.

macOS:

  1. Entire Screen:

    • Press "Command + Shift + 3."

    • The screenshot is saved as a file on your desktop.

  1. Partial Screen:

    • Press "Command + Shift + 4."

  1. Specific Window:

    • Press "Command + Shift + 4" followed by "Spacebar."

    • Click on the window you want to capture, and the screenshot is saved as a file on your desktop.

  1. Clipboard:

    • Add "Control" to any of the above shortcuts (e.g., "Command + Control + Shift + 4") to copy the screenshot to the clipboard instead of saving it as a file.

Linux:

  1. Entire Screen:

    • Press "PrtScn" or "Shift + PrtScn" (for some Linux distributions).

    • The screenshot is usually saved in your home directory.

  1. Active Window:

    • Press "Alt + PrtScn."

    • The screenshot of the active window is usually saved in your home directory.

  1. Custom Area:

    • Some Linux distributions offer tools like "gnome-screenshot" for capturing custom areas.

    • Search for these tools in your applications menu and use them to capture screenshots.

Remember that these methods might vary depending on the laptop model and the specific version of the operating system you're using.
